Two Borders

Someone finally got the fact that we border two countries not just Mexico. It took a huge terror ring getting busted in Canada to help them figure it out. For a while there were rumors that several suspects came through Canada prior to the 9-11 attacks. This later turned out to be false. The mere fact that we considered it to be possible should have made the Canadian border as much of a priority as the Mexican border. As the old saying goes, "Live and Learn." I think we've got the living down, now we need to work on the learning.

hey, just found your site. I don't do much looking at blogs, but I may be back.

The Canadian border is a priority. It has had an increase of 106% of border agents and 188% increase in border patrol agents since 9/11. I would say that the Mexican border is seen as more of a priority because there is a lot more illegal activity (I know, this is a lot at the Canadian border too, but just less). Also Mexico is starkly different than the US, whereas Canada is very similar to the US in governance and rules of law.

I'm glad to hear that there is some priority being given to this. The Canadian border is as porous as the Mexican border. I also agree that there is a world of difference between the Mexican and the Canadian governments.
